After Misfortune, LIFE LINK Client D’Lynn McCarthy Savors the Sweet Smell of Success

DLynn

Two years ago D’Lynn McCarthy found herself in a tough situation: having hurt her back at work, she had to give up not only her job, but also the place to live that came with her job. Suddenly out of work and homeless, D’Lynn was forced to sleep in her car - until lack of money forced her to lose even that.

Injured, scared, depressed, and suffering from panic attacks, D’Lynn sank lower: “I felt desperate. I was in such bad emotional condition, I couldn’t carry on a conversation without crying... and I had gotten to where I didn’t want to go anywhere because I was so ashamed... so I withdrew...“

Las Alas Opens!

What is the single most important goal
of The Life Link?

“To put ourselves out of business!”
says Executive Director, Carol Luna Anderson without hesitation.

This may seem like a puzzling statement from the Executive Director until she explains that being out of business for the Life Link means there are no more people in need of housing, mental health or addiction services. “Until that day comes – and it is possible,” Carol insists “ – we are committed to serving our clients with the latest, evidence-based treatment methods that positively impact recovery, self-sufficiency and empowerment.”

And so, to meet the needs of our expanding treatment population by providing the very best treatment services available in comfortable, quality space, The Life Link broke ground for our newest facility Las Alas (The Wings) in August 2006. Over the ensuing months, the entire Life Link staff excitedly watched the building grow, and finally in March, 2008 The Life Link proudly opened the doors of our newest facility.
